SHG use cases.

Bethany School
Printed copies of SHG magazines were purchased for almost all students across the school to use as part of the PSHE curriculum. Pastoral leads used the resources to structure lessons around the content, and a copy for each student meant that they could take their copy home to read through in private and refer back to it at a later date. In this scenario, SHG magazines are used as a valuable tool to direct lesson planning, prompt discussion and be retained as a long term resource.

Shropshire SCP
Shropshire Community Safety Partnership (SCSP) commissioned a print and digital campaign with 10,000 copies of SHG and 2,000 copies of SHG (uni) being distributed through schools, colleges and univerisities across Shropshire. Both editions were heavily customised to include Shropshire-specific health and wellbeing messaging, plus details of local contacts. We supported the SCSP by handling distribution and evaluation of the initiative in-house. Early feedback indicated that the copies received by schools, colleges, universities and other settings have been well received by students.

Wyke Sixth Form College
We worked closely with Wyke to create a heavily customised edition in both print and digital format for the start of their 2022 academic year. Using their own photos, we designed multiple pages of bespoke content to introduce joiners to their new college and included information about mental health advice, sports activities, learning support and localised contacts. The magazine was available in print format to their new joiners, and digital format to all other stakeholders across the college.

Waltham Forest Council
Waltham Forest Public Health Team has commissioned a bespoke version of SHG magazine to include local campaigns and contact details both within the magazine and on the back cover directory. The bespoke copies are distributed via school nurses in the Borough and are handed to students who visit them. This deployment method has proved successful for the Borough and is now in its fourth year.

Edinburgh Napier University
Now in its 5th year, Edinburgh Napier has used SHG university edition since the edition’s inception. Starting originally with a pilot of uncustomised print copies in 2017, the university now invest in both print and digital customised versions for all of the new starters each September. Working closely with the university, we customise the edition to include all of the information a new student would need to know, including institution-specific information and contacts. Napier sees value in offering both print and digital versions for their students to ensure that 6,500 new joiners get a print edition, and all older students, educators, staff and parents have access to the digital edition.
